There is “Yugama-Yakushi” next to the Shiki Memorial Museum.
Yugama is the outlet of a hot spring.
“Yugama-Yakushi” is enshrined the oldest yugama which was made about 1,300 years ago.
The name of “南無阿弥陀仏; Nam-ami-da-butsu” is engraved in the gem at the top of Yugama.
This is said to be wrote by “Ippen-san” who is the holy priest in middle ages.
This Yugama was once actually used as a sprue.
Although hot water will flow from the central part of the stone at the present Yugama, this one was sprinkling hot water from the rounded part at the top.
In 1894, the main building of Dogo Onsen was completed.
Taking this opportunity, this yugama retired from active service.
The Yugama bringing the grace of hot springs for a long time, then it was worshiped as a “Yugama-Yakushi”.
Even now, Yugama gave way to a new one, it continues to watch over our daily living.
