A shrine that worshiped a white snake

There is a shrine worships white snakes on the playground side of Dogo Park, just behind the megalithics.
The shrine named “Iwasaki-Jinja” is familiar as “Mii-san” from locals.

It was built about 800 years ago from now.
This shrine enshrine with “白人明神小千命; Urato-myoujin-ochino-mikoto”.
This god is said to be the founder of the Kohno clan who dominated this parts in medieval times.
According to the legend, this “白人明神小千命; Urato-myoujin-ochino-mikoto” was commonly called “white snake”.

In China, it is said that snakes are also called “little dragon” and are a very auspicious living thing.
Since snakes grow by repeating molting, they are regarded as symbolizing the source of life.
It is said that shrine worshiped a snake has a benefit in longevity, being blessed with good children, career advancement and being lucky in money.
